How to set accent color to cursor color on Windows 10

Windows users like to customize their desktop. The OS has generally had room for a lot of changes even if most of them are made via third-party apps. Rainmeter is one popular app that most people use to transform how their system works. Out of the box, Windows 10 lets you change the accent color to anything you want and if you want the cursor to match it, it’s pretty easy.

Set accent color to cursor color

You can change the cursor color with third-party apps. The trick is to install a different cursor but this method is very limited. You have to search for a cursor theme and it needs to sit well with the rest of your OS’ layout.

On Window 10 1903, you can change the cursor color to anything you like. You can use the feature to set the accent color as the cursor color.

Find accent color

Open the Settings app and go to the Personalization group of settings. Select the Color tab. Your accent color should already be set but if you need to change it, do that first. What you need next is the color code for the accent color.

At the bottom of the color palettes, click the ‘Custom color’ button.

Click Done, and the color will update to match the accent color. This trick is a bit clumsy given you have to change the cursor color manually each time the accent color changes. There’s no way to automatically change the cursor color. It is a native Windows 10 feature though so it’s going to work flawlessly.

If you like the idea of the cursor being a different color, but don’t think the accent color is the right one to go with it, you can always use a different one. The cursor gets a black or white outline around it (depending on the color you select) to make sure it is easy to see.
